Thank you everyone for your help, for forwarding on Wally's website, and for your thoughts and cares for our family. We have great news. After some minor changes, and the realization that we just won't be able to part with our friend, Wally is staying with us. He is on vacation with his 'grandparents' during this time in our lives while my husband is on the road and we are figuring out where our next home will be located. Wally is for sure being included in those decisions and he will be coming back to his loving home in the future.
Sincerely,
Maggie

Adopt our family dog, Wally
Wally is our 4 1/2 year old mix and beloved member of our family. He became part of our family on April 13, 2005, just weeks before my husband and I got married. We rescued him from the humane society in Louisville, Kentucky (where we lived at the time) when he was just 3 months old. We had been looking for awhile and when we saw Wally we knew he was the one. He is our 1st baby, but now we have a 13 month baby who will not leave Mr. Wally alone. For the sake of Wally, and to prevent any type of incident, it is time to find a new family for him.
He is a cuddler and sleeps a lot. He knows how to sit and shake, but tends to be very excited around new people. He is a jumper, which can be very intimidating to new people, but settles quickly when new guests arrive at the house. He loves his toys and bones, and is always wagging his tail. He makes me happy every time I get home because he is there to greet us with a 'smile'.
The ideal adoptive parent/s would be able or walk Wally or have a yard for him to play in. He is approximately 70 pounds and all legs, so he does need some space to stretch out. He has done well for the past year with me at home with him as I raise my son, but prior to that he spent days in the laundry room on his doggy bed waiting for us to finish our full time jobs. He is a TANK, never has had an accident in the house. Obviously its not ideal for him to be cooped up all day, but he can handle it. He is a barker. The ideal adoptive parent must realize that he will bark at passers by, or a squirrel spotted in the yard. His bark is all talk though, I've never seen him behave aggressively. Obviously, the home should not have small children, as Wally doesn't seem up to that interaction 24/7. Most importantly, Wally needs to be loved. He needs his velvety ears rubbed and gentle praise, because that is what he is used to. He seems to be sensitive, because if he is scolded, he cowars along side of you until he gets a forgiving pat on the back. His looks are endearing if nothing else, and we always get the question 'What kind of dog is that?' We call him the newest designer breed 'Doberhound'...
Wally is FREE. This includes his dog bed, food, leashes, collars, and any leftover heartworm and flea meds that we have on hand. Wally nuetered and up to date on all his vaccinations. He has been checked by the vet and given a clean bill of health during one of his recent trips to the kennel.
We love Wally and this is one of the toughest things I'll ever do, so if you are interested in being Wally's new 'mommy' or 'daddy' please contact Maggie at maggiehelmers@yahoo.com or (407)687-2243
